Tour de France 2022

Tour de France 2022 is a sports game dedicated to cycling, or more precisely - the title race, organized annually and almost continuously since 1903. It was developed by Cyanide, the studio taking care of the series, and it was published by Nacon.

Game mechanics

The main attraction of Tour de France 2022 is the opportunity to take part in all 21 stages of the title race during the 2022 season. In Pro Leader mode, you create your own cyclist and decide on his profile (you can take on a climber, sprinter, puncher or opt for an all-rounder; the decision you make has an impact on how your cyclist will perform in specific conditions), and then fight for victory on your own. In Pro Team mode, on the other hand, we take control over the whole team, which, starting from scratch, gradually climbs the ranks of sports career, as we progress, taking part in more prestigious competitions.

The game allows us to fight for victory not only in the title race, but also in a number of other races, such as the new Primavera Classic, inspired by important Italian cycling competitions. In addition to the races, the license covers both the cyclists (thanks to whom we have Tadej Pogacar, Mathieu van der Poel, Wout van Aert, Primož Roglic and David Gaudu, among others) and teams (among which there are three new ones, i.e. Eolo-Kometa Cycling Team, Caja Rural-Seguros RGA and Uno-X Pro Cycling Team), as well as the brands and objects set on the routes.

The developers have made efforts to make the fight for victory as realistic as possible. For this purpose, they introduced a pre-race preparation system, which makes that in each competition there are five randomly selected cyclists who are particularly well prepared, as well as five others who are not in shape. To identify them, we must carefully observe their actions. In addition, there are unexpected random events, such as accidents on the route or illness, which have various consequences - from a short-term weakness of the player to the complete withdrawal from the race. The list of new features is completed with shocks to the entire interface on cobbled sections, and improvements to the behavior of the peloton (which rides more aggressively) and the breakaway specialists (who cooperate better than before).

Game modes

In addition to Pro Leader and Pro Team modes, Tour de France 2022 offers a My Tour module that allows you to create your own races; you select stages (out of 92 available) and teams, as well as rest days. New to the game is the Race of the Week mode, in which you complete various objectives (such as winning the general classification or accumulating a large number of points on mountain stages) while competing against players from all over the world for a place in the ranking.

Technical aspects

Graphics in Tour de France 2022 is pretty much on the same level as in previous parts of the series.
