game release date for PS1:
Toy Story Racer is a racing game developed by the Traveller's Tales team. The production was based on the license of the popular animated film Toy Story, released by Activision on the PS1 console.
W Toy Story Racer we participate in races on eighteen different routes. The list of tracks (inspired by the locations we saw in the film) includes the Andy's house, shopping centre, underground parking, cinema and basketball court. The title captures twelve characters from the original film; we are talking about such personalities as Sheriff Chudy, Buzz Astral, Rex, Cienki or even Rocky Gibraltar. While four of them are available from the very beginning, the remaining eight are unlocked by collecting soldiers scattered along the routes.
The game features a dozen or so variants of races - apart from classic competitions, where our task is to cross the finish line in the first position (Single Race, Reverse Race, Race Cup Tournament), there is a place for time trials (Time Trial Laps), races in which after each lap a competitor taking the last place (Knockout Race) is removed, championships involving the elimination of opponents (Smash Challenge) or even challenges reminiscent of playing in bark (Tag Races). The use of power-ups hidden in four-coloured boxes helps to achieve victory; among them there are mainly weapons (like rockets and electromagnetic impulses), although from time to time you may come across, for example, a afterburner.
Released on the PS1 Toy Story Racer, the Toy Story Racer allows you to play alone or in the company of a second player (on a split screen).
Toy Story Racer has three-dimensional graphics in a style reminiscent of the film's original.
