In Truck Mechanic: Dangerous Paths we observe the action from a first person perspective (FPP) or a third person perspective (TPP). We spend most of our time behind the wheel of a truck and the key element of the game are the orders we accept; apart from the tasks that push the plot forward, there are a number of side missions to complete. New orders are accepted at special trading points or gas stations. Although at the beginning we're looking for quick cash injection and we take on everything that comes our way, over time, when we've become a skilled driver and gained a good reputation, we can start to be picky, choosing only the most profitable missions.

Carrying out the tasks involves the necessity of traversing the mountainous terrains of South America. We move along roads full of mud, rocks and narrow bridges allowing us to cross rivers or canyons. As you can guess, navigation in such terrain is extremely difficult and any mistake can cost us a lot. In addition, the matter can be complicated by changing weather conditions and the 24-hour cycle.

Even before starting the journey, we should properly distribute the load, but already on the road we have to keep an eye on the road, because an accident is not difficult. In addition, our old truck often breaks down, which forces us to make stops and the need to leave the cab and make repairs. At our disposal is a fully equipped toolbox and a workbench, which allow us to take the car apart (it consists of 1500 elements) and bring it back to use without having to leave the route. And if the terrain is difficult, we can always use the winch or lay wooden planks on the track so that we can drive through ruts and ditches. We should inform other drivers of any problems we encounter using the fully functional CB radio; it's worth doing, because this way we gain friends who can come to our aid in case of bigger problems.

As we progress, we unlock new parts and upgrades for our truck, as well as various cosmetic add-ons, allowing us to customize its appearance to our liking.
