War in the Pacific: The Struggle Against Japan 1941-45 revolves around the war between United States and Japan over the Pacific Ocean area. The game reuses Uncommon Valor engine, which powered the previous game of the studio, but the new installment is much more complicated, expanding available military operations beyond sea battles and including also land and air combat.

Unlike in other strategy games, the developers of Uncommon Valor focused mainly on the events that had a visible impact on warfare in the South Pacific region.
