Ugo Volt, developed by studio Move Interactive is an action game combining elements of shooters, brawlers and adventures, in which we see the actions of the characters from the first or third person perspective. The game is set on Earth, in the near future. Almost the entire planet is under water, the greenhouse effect caused the melting of polar ice and the ocean swallowed up the continents (only the highest places are left on the surface). Almost total power over the world has been taken over by the World Order Corporation, which plays the role of the saviour of mankind. In fact, the corporation, slowly but effectively, takes control of the survived society. One of the areas of WOC research is nanotechnology and genetics, and the result of these experiments is the creation of the first fully artificial human whom we control in the game.

Our hero, Ugo Volt, was brought up by a couple of "normal" people. This test was supposed to last for sixty years and if it was successful, mass production of artificially bred people would start. In the fifteenth year of the experiment, there was a tragic accident in which Ugo's foster father died. The cause of the disaster was the failure of one of the android neurotransmitters. This event is a turning point in Volt's life, who blames the WCO for the death of his adoptive father. Ugo creates his revenge-hungry alter ego and a fictitious, fantastical world in which he can unleash anger and frustration.

We join the game many years later - Ugo is fifty-nine years old and there is only one year of testing left. During this time, our hero was promoted to WCO, becoming the head of a team of engineers working on Artificial Intelligence. Volt did not give up his revenge. He even found allies in the form of the Green Flame organization. One day Volt steals secret WCO plans and sets off to a rebel camp. In this way, we begin a series of intriguing and dramatic events, the effects of which will far surpass what we expect. The way the main character is guided is interesting: everything that happens in the WCO world is viewed from the first person perspective, and when you move to the alternative world of the Ugo, the camera switches to the third person.

Regardless of the reality in which we carry out missions, there are several ways to solve the problems that arise. For example, when faced with the need to cross a river, we can decide whether to break through an obstacle by strengthening a ruined bridge or to look for some alternative crossing. The authors of the game have also created a tool called the violence indicator, which determines the way and difficulty of passing the game. People who prefer only gunfire and forceful solutions may in some situations have trouble. Obtaining an item from an independent character is certainly a great challenge for someone who prefers aggressive behavior.

Although it is generally advisable to look for peaceful and thought-based actions, we will certainly have to fight more than once. For such a circumstance, we have at our disposal a wide arsenal of combat tools, divided into two categories: those used in the real world (futuristic weapons and mental powers to control others) and those useful in the alternative world (more traditional hand-to-hand combat equipment and magic spells). From time to time, it is also possible to drive one of several types of vehicles (including combat vehicles).

The creators of Ugo Volt paid special attention to the fact that the game world was inhabited by intriguing and colorful characters, deadly monsters and creatures, and even a set of mystical animals that we will be able to ride on. Some of the NPCs have their own, often dark and intriguing origins and stories (for example, the Scalix angel wearing a metal frame strengthening the wings broken in combat).

Elements such as customizable gameplay and a non-linear storyline make it possible to search for different ways to solve problems and perform subsequent quests. Thanks to this we can go through the game even several times, still meeting new characters and challenges, if only to see each of the four alternative endings.
