Two-dimensional party-game platformer designed to play in multiplayer. Up to four players can take part in the game (locally and over the Internet), and their task is to get to the finish line first and collect as many points as possible. However, it is not a regular race, because in Ultimate Chicken Horse we create the tracks by placing various platforms, jumps and traps on the board.
Ultimate Chicken Horse is the debut game of the independent studio Clever Endeavour Games. Its core consists of three people - Richard Atlas, head of the company and designer, chief programmer Alex Attar and Kyler Kelly - artist. The small team financed the production through a Kickstarter campaign in May 2015.
The title is a party game intended mainly for multiplayer mode. Ultimate Chicken Horse is a two-dimensional platformer for up to four people (in local multiplayer or over the Internet).
The goal is simple - to beat the remaining players by reaching the finish line in one piece. Developers have provided virtually empty boards, which contain only the basic facilities - start, finish, and a few platforms. We don't get any points for completing such levels, so for the fun to make sense, we have to add the rest of the objects by ourselves. One game consists of several consecutive approaches to the same route, during which we add subsequent elements to this obstacle course. Before the start, each player successively sets up platforms, hills, collapses, saws and other traps. This should be done in such a way as to pave the way to the target and, at the same time, make it more difficult for opponents. This results in crazy and dangerous levels. Controling the characters (horse, chicken, sheep and a few other animals) is relatively simple because they can only jump and bounce off the walls. Individual heroes do not have any unique powers.
In order to earn points for completing the level, a basic condition must be met - at least one of the players must die during the race. Otherwise, nobody gets any prizes. However, if someone does die, the game gives bonuses for getting to the finish line in the first place, for placing a trap, collecting coins, and so on.
Ultimate Chicken Horse features simple but funny visuals. The players take on the roles of animals that look funny and move in an unnatural way. The game is complemented by a lively and motivating soundtrack.
