Vanished

Vanished, released on iOS and AND, is an audio horror adventure. The project was developed by Pixel Heart studio, known from Hyper Maze and Pixel Rush.

Plot

The story of Vanished begins when the hero wakes up in complete darkness. Initially, he thinks that something has happened to the power supply. However, he quickly discovers that for some mysterious reason all light sources have disappeared all over the world. Relying only on hearing and touch, he must find a haven and discover the truth about what happened. It won't be easy, because the terrains are full of bloodthirsty beasts.

Mechanics

Vanished is an audio adventure, which means that it is a game with virtually no graphics. Instead, it communicates with the player mainly through sounds. The game uses a phone's and tablet's accelerometer to read our position in the world. If we turn around, our character will do the same. The movement is done by touching the screen.

The player must analyze the sounds and the direction they come from (so it is necessary to play with headphones) - this creates a vision of the environment in the player's mind. Most of the challenges are to find a way out of successive locations, but there are also combat sequences and a simple character progression system.

Vanished creates an atmosphere of terror by using the player's imagination. The authors tried to take advantage of the fact that imagination can create things more terrifying than anything that other people can develop.
