Vernal Edge

Mechanics

Vernal Edge is a 2D platformer. The player explores various areas, gathers items, avoids traps and battles hordes of enemies using an extensive arcade combat system. The player can wield melee weapons, cast magic and chain attacks into combos.

Since the game is a metroidvania, many areas are initially inaccessible and can only be accessed after unlocking certain upgrades.

The game's structure is rather open. Vernal owns a skyship, aboard which she can freely travel between the floating islands. Contrasting the rest of the game, the flying sequences are 3D.

Game modes

The game only supports singleplayer.

Vernal Edge makes use of an appealing, pixelated, 2D retro artstyle.
