War Dogs is a tactical and strategic game, ideologically similar to the famous Full Spectrum Warrior. The American company Quicksilver is responsible for the production of War Dogs, which in the past became famous for such titles as Castles or Master of Orion III.

The game is played in a slightly different way from traditional real time strategies. We take control of a platoon of approximately thirty American soldiers. The player's troop must carry out various missions, both in urban areas and in open spaces. The commander must always take into account the terrain, the location of enemies, search for valuable curtains, as well as perform newer and newer tactical settings.

The action is observed from behind the back commanding the platoon of a person (TPP view). However, the camera is located closer to the back of the camera than competing titles. It is also worth mentioning that the death of a player-led commander means automatic defeat. Of course, losses in the right team should also be avoided. Despite the fact that this character is controlled analogously to typical action games (WASD + mouse), it is much more important to control subordinate people. This is done using a complex command system. Subordinates are divided into several color-coded groups (4-5 people each), which are given separate commands. The player can, for example, order them to go to a given place, fire or help other units in battles. Team members can also perform more complex tasks, such as throwing smoke grenades, blowing up certain constructions or dismantling mines. The authors of the game have made sure that their intelligence is at a high level, the same applies to opponents who can act in a group, and in critical situations call for meals. It is also worth mentioning that each time the placement of opponents on the map is randomly drawn.

The individual missions are characterised by specific objectives to be pursued. This could be, for example, the need to apprehend an important person or to get rid of a terrorist camp. However, the course of the task itself is non-linear. For example, a player can storm or eliminate individual enemies from surprise. Numerous network modes have also been taken care of.
