Within the Cosmos is an RPG game set in a sci-fi universe. It is the debut project of the independent studio debdev.

Plot

Within the Cosmos takes us to a futuristic universe where, as a result of a devastating conflict, Earth has become unsuitable for life. In 2278, the United Earth Space Agency sends 500 chosen ones to the distant Adallio system, which is intended to become the new home of humanity.

Unfortunately, things get much more complicated along the way, because our character arrives at their destination with a delay of several generations. Those who managed to arrive here earlier not only colonized Adallio, but also divided into factions differentiated in terms of politics, philosophy, and their guiding goals. As if that wasn't enough, a threat from androids began to loom on the horizon.

During the game we land right in the middle of this chaos, and how our further fate will unfold will largely depend on our actions and the choices we make.

Gameplay

In Within the Cosmos we view the action from a first-person perspective (FPP). We start the game by creating a character – we can decide on their appearance, history and attributes. We have nothing left to do but to plunge into the whirl of cosmic adventures.

We travel through diverse locations in the Adallio system - the list includes a city illuminated by the glow of neon lights, picturesque landscapes or a settlement straight from the Wild West. We get to know the factions ruling this place and we also meet ordinary inhabitants, carrying out various quests for them. The game also forces us to fight enemies. During dynamic battles, we can make use of melee weapons and firearms. We cana also further improve and modify our weapons, adapting them to our needs and preferences.

The range of ways in which we can solve encountered problems is determined by the attributes of our character, skills that we develop as we progress, and various perks collected along the way. Thanks to them, we can use force solutions, rely on cunning, intelligence and charisma (convincing other characters to our point of view) or even act quietly, sneaking behind enemy backs and hacking security systems.
