WRC Generations is the next installment in the series of licensed rally games, after WRC 10, and at the same time the last one behind the KT Racing studio and Nacon (after the license was acquired by Codemasters in 2020).

Gameplay

The series from the KT Racing studio is a simcade - somewhere between an uncompromisingly realistic rally simulation and enjoyable gaming for a wide audience. WRC Generations, however, takes another twist in the former direction, offering a variety of changes to the driving model.

The game includes all the rallies (in 13 countries), teams and cars scheduled for the real 2022 WRC season. This also includes the new feature - hybrid cars (i.e. equipped with both internal combustion and electric motors), belonging to the Rally1 class and represented by three models: Ford Puma, Toyota GR Yaris and Hyundai i20.

New Game Network: 64 / 100 by Ben Thomas

With a slightly different driving model, that is less enjoyable, and a severe lack of new content, WRC Generations is not much more than a compilation of previous entries with a different coat of paint.

DarkZero: 7 / 10 by Dominic Sheard

The loss of the licence for Kylotonn has translated into their final WRC game coming across like a send off for the development studio, collecting all the good work they have done over the years and compiling it into a "best of" collection.

While it does add new content and some new car variety, performance and controls are touchy on Switch
