Wrestling Spirit 2 is the second installment of a series of games dedicated to American wrestling, combining elements of RPG and sports manager. Adam Ryland and his development team are again responsible for production. The creators remained faithful to the basic assumptions of the game, trying to make it more attractive by adding new elements.

As in the original released two years earlier, the hero of Wrestling Spirit 2 is a professional wrestler, whose actions both in the ring and outside it are directed by the player. His task is to develop the skills and attributes of characters, fight battles with opponents controlled by computer artificial intelligence, as well as watch over many matters related to the career and private life of a player.

The game offers four play modes. In addition to career (Rookie to Legend) and wrestling duels (Superstar Challenge), the creators have introduced the possibility to compete in leagues - Pro League and World League. The engine responsible for duels has also been modified. Although they still take place mainly in the text layer, the players have obtained a much larger number of possible actions (more options to choose from). The AI of computer opponents has also been improved, as they are able to adapt combat tactics to the events in the ring.

Wrestling Spirit 2 presents a much better level of graphic design. The game interface was thoroughly rebuilt by Jason Warholic, who also designed this element in Total Extreme Wrestling. Illustrations still serve only decorative purposes, but are characterized by a much greater number of details and quality of workmanship.
