A special version of the 2015 action game from SEGA, enhanced with new content. The main new feature in Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut is the multiplayer mode called Red Light Raid, designed for up to 4 players. The new version also contains previously unseen cut-scenes and an English dubbing.
Yakuza Zero Director's Cut is a new version of the 2015 third-person action game, enriched with new content. Similar to the original, as well as previous parts of the series and a number of its spin-offs, the game was created by the SEGA corporation.
Yakuza 0 Director's Cut stands out from its original mainly due to the new game mode. We are talking about the Red Light Raid multiplayer mode, designed for up to four players. It features dozens of characters waiting to be unlocked. In addition, the developers enriched this version with completely new cut-scenes. The icing on the cake is the optional English dubbing.
In terms of plot, Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut serves as a unique prequel to the entire series. Its action takes us back to 1988, showing the events that took place seven years before the incidents described in the first game. The protagonists of the game are: 20-year-old member of the Tojo clan named Kazuma Kiryu, and 24-year-old businessman named Majima Goro. They both represent a completely new type of hero for the series.
Kiryu is an inexperienced young man who, dealing with the recovery of unpaid debts, is taking his first steps in the Tokyo underworld. Majima is looking for an opportunity to return to the criminal underworld under the guise of running a legitimate business. We take turns playing them, as the fate of the heroes intertwine during the clan battles for control over one of the city's districts.
The gameplay mechanics in Yakuza 0 Director's Cut do not significantly deviate from the atmosphere of the previous parts of the series and are largely based on the model known from the Grand Theft Auto. For the purposes of the Yakuza series, it was however enriched with an elaborate combat system and the specific atmosphere of Japan. There are both calmer segments, requiring quiet and thoughtful action, as well as dynamic shootouts and fighting sequences using various Eastern fighting styles.
The game mainly involves exploring the various alleys of the city, talking to the characters we meet, and carrying out a series of diverse storyline missions. The open world of the game is also full of sandbox elements and additional activities and mini-games, which our heroes can take advantage of. The whole thing was adorned with a atmospheric, yet colorful graphic design, reminiscent of the best-selling Sleeping Dogs and earlier installments of the series.

Yakuza (Japanese. Ryu ga Gotoku - Like a Dragon) is a series that began as TPP action adventure games, while in 2020 began a love affair with the jRPG genre. The essence of gameplay in productions under this banner are spectacular clashes, in which we mostly use our own fists, white weapons such as clubs or samurai swords, as well as elements of the environment, such as trash cans or bicycles. Firearms are present, but usually do not play a major role. The protagonists have numerous fighting styles, which we can upgrade. Of great importance are impressive finishers, in which opponents are eliminated in a particularly impressive way.

Game Ratings for Yakuza 0: Director's Cut Video Game.
Nintendo Life: 9 / 10 by PJ O'Reilly
Yakuza 0 is the best of the traditional-styled Yakuza games, with the most complex story and interesting characters of the lot. It's also the ideal place for newcomers to get started with this weird and wonderful series. The new multiplayer mode is a little throwaway, for sure, and the fights do get repetitive (turn-based Yakuza FTW), but otherwise, this is a phenomenal port of an epic adventure that's now my favourite way to get down on the mean streets of 1980s Tokyo and Osaka.
The Nerd Stash: 8 / 10 by Julio La Pine
Yakuza 0: Director's Cut is an excellent launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2 that showcases its technical capabilities. However, some of the new additions make it feel like the inferior version of this legendary entry.
Noisy Pixel: 9 / 10 by Colin Buchanan
Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut retails for $50 USD, and I can’t say that doesn’t feel like a high asking price – like I said in my review of Ishin! a few years ago, that’s more than what it cost to pick up the entire trilogy of remastered PlayStation 3-only entries. I think it’s ultimately worthwhile because you’re getting a genuinely incredible game that now has an English dub and looks better than ever before, and it’s an absolute no-brainer for any Nintendo fan who has never experienced Yakuza before. As we look forward to Stranger than Heaven, it’s more worth it than ever to look back at this absolute action classic.
