The player assumes the role of a young elephant who – similarly to other elephants in this world – is a defender of the world. When controlling the protagonist, the player travels through various locations, solves riddles and fights.
Yono and the Celestial Elephants for PC and SWITCH is an adventure game focused on solving puzzles and exploration. The title enables the player to assume the role of a young elephant named Yono. The title was developed by an independent studio Neckbolt Games.
In the game’s universe elephants are the defenders of the world. They are born from stars once every millennium. In the current millennium the task of defending the planet is given to Yono, the main protagonist of the game. Yono is still very young and because of that dealing with incoming challenges won’t be easy for him. Other inhabitants of the world, among whom there are humans, undead Bonewrights and robotic Mekani, won’t make the task any easier.
Yono and the Celestial Elephants for PC and SWITCH is a game focused on solving puzzles and finding secrets. However, the title also features sequences of combat with the enemies. During the main plot the player can visit four cities filled with non-playable characters, side quests and shops. Around the cities there are caves and forests in which the player can find treasures and enhancements for the elephant. The game also features three large dungeons – each with a set of monsters, riddles and a special boss. Discovering the secret writings and talking with members of various races enables the player to discover the story of the game’s world and to learn more about the philosophy and nature of power.
Action in Yono and the Celestial Elephants for PC and SWITCH is presented with an isometric perspective. The game features colorful, hand-drawn graphics that fit the light, fairy-tale-like theme of the game.
