Arma III Breaking Point mod goes standalone

Breaking Point, a popular zombie mod for Arma III, is going to receive a standalone version based on Unreal Engine 4. The project's creators are planning to launch a Kickstarter campaign soon.

Creators of Breaking Point, a popular zombie mod for military shooter Arma III, decided to make a standalone version of their game. According to the information provided on Steam forums, Breaking Point Standalone is going to be based on Unreal Engine 4 for more stability and less restrictive technological limits. The team is currently working on a game prototype that is expected to be submitted to Steam Greenlight in about two weeks. They also hope to launch a Kickstarter campaign within a month’s time.

Breaking Point is doing well as a mod, but its creators are not stopping there.

Although the team is only made of a couple of people (they are looking to expand after having secured more funds), their plans for the project are really ambitious. They are planning to create a huge map of about 200 square kilometers and servers able to support up to 100 players. Breaking Point Standalone is also promised to include overhauled gameplay mechanics, lots of new assets, and full mod support.

There is no saying when the full version of Breaking Point Standalone will be available. If successful, the project will most probably go through all the development stages typical to indie games: Steam Greenlight, Kickstarter, and Steam Early Access.
