Blizzard has no Time for Overwatch 2 Betas; We'll Play Only on Release

The third beta-testing of Overwatch 2 will not take place. According to Blizzard's vice president, the information gathered during the first two tests is enough to fine-tune the game for release.

Highlights:
  1. There will be no third Overwatch 2 beta test.
  2. The company has gathered enough information from the first two tests.
  3. The next chance to play the game will be at launch - on October 4.

Third open beta test of Overwatch 2 will not take place after all. Jon Spector, Blizzard's vice president, announced on Twitter that the game will still be tested by developers at the studio, and fans won't receive it until October 4, when early access begins.

"Overwatch 2 will be released in two months! We know that players are looking forward to it and we have seen questions about the possibility of a third public beta. Although we will be testing daily OW2 internally, we are not planning any additional public beta tests."

Spector admitted that the response that followed the first and second tests was valuable enough for Blizzard to focus on making "the best game possible."

Feedback from those who were able to test the game earlier was rather positive. Although not without disagreements, players overwhelmingly praised the smaller teams (changed from 6v6 to 5v5). The issue of faster gameplay was often raised, which players also liked.

The game's biggest drawback seems to be that OW2 will completely replace the first installment. Also controversial are the alleged skin prices, which will definitely not be for every pocket.

Nevertheless, it can be concluded that Blizzard has a solid reason not to open another beta. Especially since there is so little time left until the release. What's more, the studio needs to address not only the opening of early access, but also the character characters.

As we know, for the beta, Blizzard has introduced Junker Queen into OW2 , and the studio has plans for a "heroine associated with a fox". In addition, one player also discovered that a new map called Kenezaka is to be added to the game.

Nevertheless, in view of the canceled third beta test, there is nothing left to do but wait for the October 4 release. OW2 will be available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Switch.
