As of today, everyone can already start playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. So far, the game is receiving poor ratings from reviewers and players alike. There is also no shortage of controversy.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 from Sledgehammer Games has officially debuted on the market - all fans of the series have already been testing the campaign for several hours now, and it turns out to be surprisingly short, which has already been reported by early access players and reviewers.
Currently on Metacritic Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has 26 reviews, including 21 reviews for the PS5 version. However, the website does not show ratings on a traditional scale, as reviewers only had access to the story campaign. The situation is slightly different on OpenCritic.
Such notes are apparently not a coincidence. According to Jason Schreier, a journalist at Bloomberg Agency, Activision Blizzard was to have given the developers very little time to polish the game, which inevitably had to result in a weak product, which is now very harshly evaluated.
The latest installment of Call of Duty can be purchased in two editions - the standard edition and the so-called Vault Edition.
The richer variant includes: Operator Pack: Nemesis consisting of four operator skins (Makarov, Warden, Price and Ghost), two weapon vaults, the Black Cell in Season 1 (its contents include Combat Pass, advancement by 20 Levels, 1100 CoD points) and skip 30 levels, as well as the Soulreaper weapon blueprint with tracer bullets
If you opt for the standard edition, but later change your mind, you won't lose anything. In Microsoft Store and on Steam, you can buy an upgrade to the Vault Edition - in both stores this option costs $19.
Although the developers are taking flak from the community, they are not giving up. With the launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 they released a patch, which brings changes to the campaign (e.g. bug fixes for loading some missions), gameplay (e.g., fixing a bug that prevented a chest from opening correctly the first time) or multiplayer (e.g., improved visibility of player names). The full list of changes can be examined directly on the developers' website.
In addition to the first patch, more news about the upcoming Season 1 was revealed. For now, no official date for its launch has been announced, revealing only that it is "just around the corner."
We do know that season 1 will include, for example, three new maps for twelve players, interesting secrets to discover or Christmas events.

Let's also emphasize that the developers have improved the anti-cheat system - RICOCHET. In order to catch rogue players more effectively, new features have been added to it and a machine-learning function has been used to help it better identify cheats and operate with greater efficiency. You can read more about anti-cheat's improved performance here.
Those interested in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 can play the title on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
