Disinfection on the Set of The Witcher, as Kristofer Hivju Tests Positive for COVID-19

Kristofer Hivju has reported that he's infected with the novel coronavirus. The actor is known to wider audience for his role of Tormund in Game of Thrones, and is currently taking part in the second season of The Witcher from Netflix.

IN A NUTSHELL

  • Kristofer Hivju reported that he was diagnosed with the novel coronavirus.
  • The actor has quarantined himself and feels good.
  • Netflix asks the other members of the film crew to stay at home and informs that they are closing the set of the series in order to disinfect it.

The actor Kristofer Hivju, who will play the role of Nivellen in the second season of The Witcher from Netflix (Game of Thrones fans may remember him as Tormund), reported through his profile on Instagram that he has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

"Greetings from Norway! Sorry to say that I, today, have tested positive for COVID19, Corona virus. My familiy and I are self-isolating at home for as long as it takes. We are in good health - I only have mild symptoms of a cold."

In the following part of the message, we can read that the actor encourages everyone to be careful and take preventive measures to avoid the spread of the virus.

According to Deadline, Netflix sent a message to the film crew, informing them that a case of coronavirus infection was found in one of its members (without giving any details). As a result, the set and the offices where the series was shot were closed and disinfected.

"We wanted to let everyone know that we learned today that a member of our production family has unfortunately tested positive for COVID-19.

We paused production prior to becoming aware of this, but as a further precaution we will be closing production offices and Arborfield immediately and arranging for deep cleaning and disinfection.

Further on we can read that the company encourages team members to quarantine themselves for 14 days and stay in their homes.

Yesterday we informed that the production of the The Witcher has been suspended. But this is not an isolated case. From time to time, information about the suspension of subsequent movies and series pop up on the Internet. This gives reason to believe that we can expect a stagnation in the film industry in the near future.

For those less familiar with lore of The Witcher we remind that the character played by Kristofer Hivju is Nivellen. He is the heir of a rich family, who was turned into a monster after profanating a temple of the Lion-headed Spider.
