Work on the second season of The Witcher by Netflix was suspended. The reason is a threat caused by the novel coronavirus.

The Witcher series became another item whose production was stopped due to coronavirus. Redanian Intelligence reports that people working on the title received emails informing them that the filming is suspended for two weeks. It is possible that this period will be extended, if necessary.
This news is surprising because on Friday the production was in full swing and it was planned to continue shooting for at least another seven days. Showrunner, Lauren S. Hissrich, even posted a humorous entry on Instagram about dealing with the epidemic with a photo of Zubrowka.
This means the decision to suspend the work was made suddenly. It was probably influenced by the changing strategy of fighting COVID-19 in Great Britain, where the second season of The Witcher is being filmed. Initially, the British government intended to apply only limited measures, without banning large gatherings, for example. However, such an approach was heavily criticized and the introduction of greater restrictions seems inevitable. For example, football matches have already been suspended.
Let us recall that the filming of the second season of The Witcher started in February this year. According to the original plans, they were to end in August. Currently it is not known when the production will be resumed, but rather it will not end with a two-week delay. If the break is long, it may hinder next year's premiere of new episodes.
