Age of Empires 4 DLC Release Date and Trailer; Biggest Expansion So Far

Today devs revealed new information on the first expansion for the historical RTS Age of Empires IV. The Sultans Ascend will debut on November 14 on PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. It is also expected to become part of the Game Pass subscription.

The developers announced some time ago that The Sultans Ascend will be the largest DLC in the history of series Age of Empires. Today, details about this expansion were revealed.

Just as the title indicates, it will deal with the Middle East. The player will "take on the role of a Muslim resistance fighting the invasion" during the Crusades. They must face the Templar Order, the Hospitallers and Teutons, as well as the Mongols. The Sultans Ascend will introduce to the game:

1. 8 new missions;
2. 2 playable civilizations - the Japanese and the Byzantines. The former will be related to the history of the samurai era and is expected to include special shinobi units specializing in espionage and stealth. Byzantines, on the other hand, are a civilization centered around the Eastern Roman Empire - when playing it, the player can build aqueducts or recruit mercenaries.
3. 4 new variants of existing civilizations, specifically for the Abbasids, Chinese, French and Holy Roman Empire;
4. 10 maps;
5. 2 biomes - "Japanese spring" and savannah.

It is also worth mentioning that combat in The Sultans Ascend will be able to be fought on both land and sea. In addition, the DLC will introduce new skills, heroes and other mechanics.
