Today, the RTS Age of Empires IV will receive the The Sultans Ascend expansion. It is expected to be the largest expansion in the history of the series.

  1. The DLC will be released simultaneously on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X.
  2. The price will be $15.
  3. On Steam the DLC will be unlocked today at 7 a.m. PST. On Microsoft Store (on PC and Xbox consoles) it should be made available on a similar date.
  4. This is a non-standalone DLC, so the full version of Age of Empires 4 is required to play.

The Sultans Ascend is announced as the largest expansion in the history of the series. The DLC will offer a new story campaign with eight missions, two additional civilizations (Japanese and Byzantine) and naval battles. In addition, we will get new variants of existing factions (Abbasids, Chinese, French and Holy Roman Empire), 10 additional maps and two new biomes (Japanese village and savannah).

Age of Empires IV debuted on PC in October 2021, and this August the game saw ports to Xbox One, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X consoles. The title is also available on Game Pass, but this only applies to the base game - the add-on will not be offered as part of the subscription.

The game has been warmly received by gamers; on Steam it has 86% positive reviews. It also continues to be very popular - yesterday's activity record was 12,930 concurrent players on Valve's platform.
