How to Get Rid of a Toxic Wastepack in RimWorld - All Methods

In this guide we will tell you how to get rid of toxic wastepacks in RimWorld. Clean your world.

RimWorld is one of the most popular colony-building games (although Dwarf Fortress should not be forgotten - Dwarf Fortress vs RimWorld). The title is being developed, with new DLCs introducing many interesting features. One of these – Biotech – adds the ability to manage mechanoids. This is an extremely useful mechanic, but it also has its downsides – toxic wastepacks. In this article we will tell you how to get rid of them.

Toxic wastepacks in RimWorld – basic information

  1. Toxic wastepacks are generated by the use of mechanoids and the disposal of waste left over from the operation of this technology.
  2. One terrain slot can hold a maximum of 5 toxic wastepacks (they cannot be placed on shelves).
  3. One world tile is able to hold 2000 toxic wastepacks (water only 250).
  4. If left alone, they begin to lose their 'health' until they eventually leave pollution behind (6 tiles each).
  5. Frozen toxic wastepacks do not deteriorate.
  6. Pollution can be harmful to colonists.

How to get rid of a toxic wastepack in RimWorld

  1. Leave them alone away from the base – pollution offers interesting opportunities: new animals and plants. In addition, if you are lucky, an unusual tree will grow on contaminated land.
  2. Polux tree - this is a tree that can grow on polluted ground, it naturally cleans the area around it. It appears spontaneously, unfortunately it cannot be replanted, although there is a chance to buy its seeds from traders.
  3. Storage – as we have already written toxic wastepacks can be stored indefinitely at temperatures below 0 C (32 F). However, space can be an issue here and it will certainly run out sooner or later.
  4. Transport - by using a caravan (how to form one was written about in the occasion of this article - How to Build Multiple Colonies) or thanks to drop pods (special technology has to be developed) you can leave unwanted toxic wastepacks outside your map. However, it is worth noting that this will result in the loss of relations with neighbouring colonies. The best option is to “give” wastepacks to your enemies. However, this may cause them to raid you.
  5. Wastepacks atomisers - expensive machines that can neutralize a toxic wastepack without a trail. To be able to construct them, you need to study the nano structuring chip (you can get one after fighting apocriton).
  6. Mods – mod community of RimWorld is very active. You can already find MANY projects that make toxic wastepacks not a problem (and even useful). Just pick one.
