In Nightingale, Essence is a resource used as both a currency and an ingredient of upgrades. The most basic Essence Dust is quite easy to get, as you can obtain it from breaking down such common items as Twigs, Fiber and Rocks. However, as you advance through the game, you need rarer Essence, which is denoted by tiers – from T1, second lowest, to T3, the highest. The uncommon T1 Essence is needed in early to mid-game, and it’s colored green. We explain how to get it below.

How to Get T1 Essence in Nightingale

If you want to farm T1 Essence effectively, you need specific realm cards: Antiquarian, Astrolabe, and Provisioner. Once you’ve went through a portal created with these cards, you should head for the Fae Towers, one of the few Points of Interests marked on the map by default after you enter a realm.

Fae Towers are structures that contain enemies and puzzles to solve, and usually have the Realmic Transmuter at the top. You can get Essence Bundles for every objective you complete at a Fae Tower, and for clearing the entire location.

Gaining access to the Realmic Transmuter is helpful for farming, since you can set the Treasury card to get more loot – including Essences. There’s also another advantage to completing the Fae Tower – once you release the Hope Echo at the top, all remaining Points of Interest in the realm are marked on your map. Go to as many Bastilles and encounters as possible and complete quests to get more T1 essence.

Alternatively, you can obtain T1 essence by extracting green items. Just make sure that you’re not scrapping something you’re going to need later!
