LoL: Patch 11.2 Adds Viego and Lots of Changes to Characters and Items

League of Legends received a new update, which appeared on the servers on January 21. There are quite a few changes - Viego joing the roster of champions, some legends were buffed, others nerfed. The situation is similar with some items.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  • Patch 11.2 for League of Legends introduces a new character, Viego, to be made available soon;
  • Changes have been made to several characters - the most serious concern Dr. Mundo, Akali, Olaf and Soraka, among others;
  • Some items have also been updated and minor bugs have been fixed.

New Legend - Viego

The latest League of Legends update, numbered 11.2, introduces a lot of changes to the game, but it's hard to talk about a revolution here. The biggest event is, of course, a new character - Viego, the Ruined King, whom we recently introduced in detail. His skills indicate that he's best suited for junglers, including the ability Harrowed Path, which enables us to hide in the mist. You can read more about the new character here. While Viego is already listed as a available, he cannot be currently unlocked, which will likely change in the next few days.

Viego as a wraith will plague heroes roaming the jungles of Summoner's Rift

Viego's nickname - The Ruined King - didn't come out of nowhere. A thousand years ago, Viego was indeed a king, but by causing a magical disaster while trying to resurrect his dead wife, he lost his life and became a powerful wraith. Now he can become a terror in games on Summoner's Rift.

Heroes

BUFFS:

Ten characters are covered by various buffs from the new patch. Riot Games decided to dust off somewhat forgotten characters that have fallen out of the game's meta. In most cases, the changes are rather cosmetic and it's not certain that they will contribute to the imminent rise in popularity of the champions in question. An exception to this list is Dr. Mundo, who received an improvement in three of his four skills . For this character, the focus is on increasing the healing effects of Infected Cleaver and Sadism. This is important because Mundo is a character that doesn't use mana, and his skills are used at the expense of his health points. Soraka is also worth mentioning, as her healing abilities have been greatly increased. Currently the game offers many options without relying on a typical healer like Soraka, and this buff could bring her back.

Minor improvements were introduced for Azira, LeBlanc, Caitlyn, Nocturne, Senna, Shaco, Trundle, and Varus.

NERFS:

In the new patch, Riot decided to nerf some characters who were doing too well in meta. In this case, six characters were affected. And so at first glance, the most significant changes seem to be in the case of three legends who dominated their positions in the recent past. We're talking about:

  • Akali, whose Five Point Strike skill will consume more energy.
  • Darius, whose passive ability Noxian Guillotine had its damage reduced.
  • Nunu, whose basic movement speed and health have been reduced.

Elise, Ivern, and Maokai have also been nerfed to a slightly lesser degree.

Patch 11.2 may have some unexpected consequences for Karthus mains. One Reddit user pointed out that after the update comes into effect, the character will lose its usefulness due to a change in the Lay Waste skill. Up until now, it could be used almost constantly due to its negligible cooldown. This was supposed to be changed in the latest update, due to a bug that allowed Karthus to leave the starting base before 15 seconds had passed from the start of the game . It should be noted, however, that there is no word on the official website about problems with this character, so this type of information should be approached with caution.

Three heroes have been changed in ways that can not be clearly interpreted. They are Zoe, Aatrox and Olaf. In the case of Zoe, a character capable of stealing enemy spells, the spell shards dropped by the creatures have been altered. Olaf and Aatrox, who rely heavily on life stealing and self-healing mechanics, will have the parameters of some abilities changed from now.

Items and fixes

The changes in items didn't bring any revolution either. Some of the updated items got new prices, more up-to-date to their usefulness on the battlefield, such as Chempunk Chainsword. In some cases the recipes for the item have been changed, like Runaan's Hurricane, and other items had their stats like damage or armor. Bugs related to buying certain items have also been fixed.

In addition, there have been a few minor changes to the game itself, such as fixes to League client, or bugs associated with the use of certain skills or items. The full list of changes and innovations in patch 11.2 can be found at this link.
