A huge update is headed to Lost Ark. On January 10, the popular online hack'n'slash from Amazon will receive new content and plenty of fixes, including some that are long overdue (via Steam).

This is the first of four major updates to the game, which were announced in December (via Steam). Keep in mind that this was only the initial part of the 2024 roadmap for Lost Ark, and February marks the second anniversary of the game's release, which the developers will probably celebrate.

This does not mean that the fans will not receive new content in January. In addition to items (including cosmetic items) Lost Ark will receive a new island (Lai Lai) and a more difficult version of the so-called Legion Breshlaz raid (which will consist of only two "gates" from the original challenge).

Perhaps more importantly, however, the developers have announced a switch to a new "base" version of the game. Some players don't believe these assurances (especially after the December update). However, in practice, this is expected to mean a huge number of fixes to improve Lost Ark (the so-called Quality of Life, or QoL for short) and balance changes in the global release of the game already known from Korean servers. These were met with great interest (appreciation even) from players, and many fans outside South Korea couldn't wait to check them out in practice.

Keep in mind, however, that while the developers will most likely include all the recent changes in gameplay balance, QoL improvements will include fixes from the fall patch for the Korean release. Back in November, the developers and publisher assured that they aim to equalize both versions of Lost Ark. In other words - that at least the changes balancing the gameplay will be released simultaneously in Korea and around the world.

We'll have to wait until next week for the full list of changes and novelties.
