Major Patch for Witchfire Escapes Players Again. Update Will Introduce Thousands of Changes

Witchfire fans will have to wait a little longer for the massive GGU patch. However, they can already check out the long list of changes.

The much-anticipated large patch for the Polish game Witchfire is now prepared, but it has been delayed once more. The Astronauts studio has announced that it will delay the release of the update (still only known by the working title GGU) to next Tuesday (April 9th), via X.

The devs have confirmed that the update work has been essentially finished. So where does the several-day delay come from? While the patch is essentially complete, Poles aren't completely happy with the balance and wish to spend extra time on minor adjustments. There are also some minor bugs, but not the kind that would force the developers to postpone the release of the update.

GGU was meant to be released to players last year and bring a host of changes to the early access of the shooter. However, the fear of holiday sales (sic!) finally caused The Astronauts to postpone the release to April 4.

GGU and you

Luckily, the extensive list of changes published on the official website of the studio allows players to forgive the devs for the considerable delay. The developers have clearly taken the criticism of fans to heart, although not all of it, as the patch doesn't add much new content. Some players are also not happy about another delay, even if it's minor.

The update brings new features, including the Gnosis system, which adjusts the difficulty level rather than the character's level. The previous solution resulted in a scenario where players were reluctant to progress to higher character levels, as it only made the game more challenging for them.

The developers also kept their word and rebuilt the Calamities, which so far irritated rather than delighted players. The Poles have decided on a certain solution: catastrophes will no longer occur randomly. Instead, certain actions will "change the state" (filling?) of a special bar. Whether and how we provoke the anger of the witch will be up to it.

Furthermore, the game will include two new secret dungeons (Witch Vaults, one for each map), a Collector (merchant of useful items), mirages (secret hideouts with valuable loot), character classes (six starting ones, including one for those seeking a challenge), and various additions related to the storyline or altered mechanics.

You can find an almost complete list of changes (almost, because GGU will include "literally thousands" of changes and improvements that the devs didn't mention) on the official website of The Astronauts studio.
