Overboard Remake Explained. Is it Real and Will it Be in Cinemas in July 2024?
A remake of the Overboard movie has been reported online. We explain whether they are true.
Exciting news for some cinemagoers has appeared online – apparently a remake of the film Overboard starring Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn will hit cinemas in July 2024. The new version would star Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson in the main roles. To lend credence to this information, even a poster of this remake has been made available, proclaiming that the premiere is coming this summer.
Hudson would step into her mother's shoes, playing alongside McConaughey in this "highly anticipated" romantic comedy, but is this news true? It isn't. There is no remake of the Overboard production due to hit cinemas in 2024, in which we are supposed to see this duo of actors. This is another creation of the author of the satirical Facebook profile YODA BBY ABY, who has been creating similar posts for some time. They are purely in jest and have nothing to do with the truth.
Those who rejoiced at the news of the Overboard remake may feel disappointed, while those who were scared can breathe a sigh of relief. There won’t be a repeat of 2018, when one remake of this romantic comedy starring Eugenio Derbez and Anna Faris was released. That production wasn’t well received, as evidenced by the ratings on Rotten Tomatoes.
Is there a chance that another remake of Overboard will be made? It's not likely to happen, no one is talking about it. Additionally, this is opposed by the star of the original film, Goldie Hawn, who, speaking to Variety in 2023, explained that remakes can rarely recreate the magic of the first film, so it's best not to make new versions.
Overboard was really perfect just as it was. Very rarely does a remake match the actual original film. So I’m not a fan of remakes, period. I think that people have put their stamp on their movies, and if they’re classics, they should be left alone.
