Red Dead Redemption 2 With DLSS Support in July

The upcoming DLC for Red Dead Online will bring support for Nvidia's DLSS in addition to new content. Rockstar Games confirms the date of introducing the technology to RDR2.

Back in June, Nvidia shared the news that the DLSS technology would be available in Red Dead Redemption 2. Rockstar Games has just confirmed the exact date. The announcement on the developer's website shows that owners of GeForce cards from the RTX series will will be able to enjoy this technology from July 13th, along with the arrival of a major update to Red Dead Online, called Blood Money:

"As part of the July 13th update, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online on PC will offer NVIDIA DLSS support to all Windows users with eligible NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics cards. The newly supported feature boosts frame rates and generates beautiful sharp images."

Nvidia's DLSS image reconstruction is based on AI algorithms and allows for increase of frame rate. The technology is increasingly advertised and often implemented. Not so long ago we learned about the introduction of DLSS to such games as Rainbow Six Siege, Metro Exodus or No Man's Sky. Currently, more than 50 games offer support for this technology.

It is not yet known how much DLSS will increase the performance of Red Dead Redemption 2, but past experience with this technology allows us to be optimistic. In the case of No Man's Sky it increased the fps number by up to 70% in 4K resolution. Interestingly, Nvidia has recently implemented its technology also in VR games, where the paerformance is crucial for the comfort of the player.

Many Reddit users complained about a slightly "blurry image" in Red Dead Redemption 2 in posts under the information about the upcoming support for DLSS. At the same time, there were voices full of hope that Nvidia's technology will fix this problem and the image, as Rockstar Games promised, will be "beautiful and sharp":

"RDR2 might provide the best results of DLSS, yet, only because the standard TAA implementation in the game is so insanely blurry(while FXAA and MSAA introduce shimmering on hair and trees) that DLSS 2.x is guaranteed to be better than that."

The latest update for Red Dead Online, titled Blood Money, will be made available for free. It will introduce, among other things, a number of new missions to complete, a gunslinger club, as well as new clothing and pass items. Novelty comes in the form of unrestricted theft with burglary of houses and camps, as well as additional types of challenges - opportunities and crimes.
