Star Wars: Dark Forces is a first-person shooter released in 1995, set in George Lucas' eponymous movie universe. The game, which originally appeared on PC (a year later also on the PS1), enjoyed immense popularity, over time gaining iconic status. It will soon fight for the attention of the next generation of gamers.

  1. Wanting to restore the former glory of Dark Forces, Nightdive decided to remaster the shooter, adapting it to current visual standards (within certain limits, of course)..
  2. The refreshed version of Dark Forces runs on the developers' proprietary engine and supports resolutions up to 4K at 120 frames per second. In addition, the title will offer advanced 3D rendering. Not only the gameplay layer, but also the cinematic cutscenes will undergo a facelift (per Gematsu).
  3. The developers have announced that the game is being developed for PC, PS4, PS5, XOne, XSX/S and Switch. Unfortunately, Nightdive did not reveal when the title will go on sale.

The changes that will be implemented in Star Wars: Dark Forces are presented in the trailer below.

It is worth mentioning that last year Dark Forces also received a fan-made remaster. The Force Engine - because that's the name of the mod - provides, among other things, support for high widescreen resolutions, improved AI and the option to play with a gamepad.
