Total War: Pharaoh is a fresh addition to the renowned Total War series. As its name implies, this game transports players to the heart of Ancient Egypt during a period marked by significant power struggles among various influential figures (1200BC). Each of these historical personalities brings their distinctive style of governance and individual aspirations to the forefront. In this guide we will present you some tips on how to survive in this world.

  1. Outposts – these buildings are quite important, as they give bonusses to your army and province. You should build at least Trading Outpost in every region. Not only it will make your production better but also army’s upkeep reduction is worth its weight in gold.
  2. Army – in this case, you should read the description of the faction you have picked. Each country has its own strengths and weaknesses. You should use them fully.
  3. Units – remember about good and weak points of your soldiers. For example, units with sords and shields are in most cases well-rounded but are the best to hold the line; troops with two-handed clubs are good at charging, and so on. You can analyze all statistics on the units’ card.
  4. Economy – at the beginning invest in the economy, don’t waste resources on military buildings. If you have good enough income, you will get good soldiers later.
  5. Provinces – focus your provinces, while of course there are buildings which should stand in each region, you should build buildings according to the resources which are in the settlement, always.
  6. Ramesses – if you are new to Total War series or had a long break, pick this faction. We have prepared a guide which will help you overcome all obstacles.
  7. Court – it is not essential at the beginning, it can give some additional perks but at the end of the day, your victories on the campaign map will be much more important.
