What are the classes in Rogue Trader?

Character classes in Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader are called Archetypes. Archetypes are development paths that characters follow, and each Archetype has unique skills and specializes in a specific type of weapon. Archetypes work in conjunction with Homeworld and Origin.

Archetypes are divided into 3 tiers - Rogue Trader: All classes - Basics - WH40K: Rogue Trader Guide

Archetypes are divided into 3 tiers:

  1. Basic
  2. Advanced
  3. Exemplar.

When creating a character, we can only choose an Archetype from the basic tier. The description of each Archetype will explain exactly what new Archetypes will be available after reaching levels 16 and 36.

All classes in Rogue Trader

Basic Archetypes:

  1. Warrior performs best in melee combat. Their endurance allows them to withstand even the most powerful attacks. This class can divert enemies' attention from weaker allies by using taunts, and his main abilities are evasion, parrying, and strong armor.
  2. Officer uses his Willpower and Fellowship to improve the combat capabilities of his allies. He allows them use additional actions, and his main advantages are saving companions and Momentum.
  3. Operative uses intelligence and perception to find weak points in enemy defenses, making their attacks irresistible. The main advantages are single attacks, penetration, precision, area debuffs.
  4. Soldier is a master of ranged weapons. When they take a favorable position, they can shoot down a large number of enemies with a single burst or a weapon with an area of effect.

Advanced Archetypes:

  1. Assassin perfectly identifies the weakest points of a single target and can deal high damage. This class is great at dodging and making a quick escape. Assasin's basic archetype is Warrior or Operative.
  2. Vanguard is an unstoppable force on the front lines. Their main strengths are defensive support, absorbing and redirecting attacks. The basic Archetype is Warrior or Officer.
  3. Bounty Hunter is perfect for eliminating single units. This class often deals critical hits and their abilities are about killing a priority target and repositioning. The basic Archetype is Soldier or Operative.
  4. Master Tactician can gain an advantage in combat and use Stacks to Press the Advantage Keystone Feature, which grants additional damage for each Stack consumed. Their Inspire ability provides a chosen ally with bonuses in the form of tactical advantage. The basic Archetype is Soldier or Officer.
  5. The Grand Strategist is a positioning master who is able to increase the combat effectiveness of the entire party by assigning them important sections of the battlefield. The basic Archetype is Operative or Officer.
  6. Arch-Militant can master any weapon perfectly. Their main strengths are versatility, crowd control, self-empowerment, large template attacks. The basic Archetype is Warrior or Soldier.
