Missing in action – the most anticipated games lost in development hell

Half-Life 3, Fallout 4 and others - when it comes to video games, there are many titles that despite great anticipation, still haven’t been released. We present you our list of the most interesting of such titles, which we have graded.

Brothers in Arms: Furious 4

Do you remember Brothers in Arms? The series was brought to life in 2005, and offered an interesting tactical take on the, greatly popular at the time, World War II shooters. Since the debut of Road to Hill 30, the franchise has seen store shelves in 10 different incarnations – on PC’s, consoles and mobile devices. In 2011 Gearbox had quite a treat for the fans: a trailer of Brothers in Arms: Furious 4, which was shown at E3 and has left the audience swept of their feet.

On one hand, a beloved franchise was making a spectacular comeback. On the other – the serious tone of the previous games was swapped for a more grotesque one, bringing to mind Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds, with a foursome of charismatic and cartoonish anti-heroes, who were massacring the ranks of the Reich (so, something of a dissonance has occurred). It didn’t end on a high note however, as Brothers in Arms are in the quiet again. As of now, the title is alive, but the game shown three years ago, won’t be a part of the series. Gearbox came to their senses, and have realized that such an atmosphere doesn’t fit the franchise – so they let their developers do what they want. The game is to implement many crazy ideas, not concerning itself with the Brothers in Arms legacy. Brothers in Arms: Furious 4 is gone, but the Furious 4 itself is alive and well – soon we will get to know the adventures of Montana, Stitch, Crockett and Chok. And the real Brothers in Arms? Well… something is certainly happening in Gearbox’s deepest cellars, rough drafts and concept art is being handed around. What would you rather play? An explosive adventure, or a serious tale? Our chuck-o-meter points towards the first option.
