There are 16 secrets in The Portal Chamber:

Attention! The above list includes all three visits to The Portal Chamber that will take place throughout the game. The following walkthrough presents the collectibles from the first visit to the portal chamber. For more secrets, see the pages about returning to The Portal Chamber.

Explore the portal chamber.

Right after using the first stairs, you will reach a large room with a portal, but it is temporarily inactive. Optionally, approach the portal to find out how you could help activate it. Unfortunately, placing the Orb in it now would have no effect.

Take a look around the portal first. There are 3 secrets to find here:

1. The Portal Chamber: Leyden Jar Note - lies on the table
2. The Portal Chamber: Diary Page - lies on the stairs
3. The Portal Chamber: Note to Von Brennenburg - lies on the stairs

Examine the stairs to the right of the entrance to the room; this will lead you to the barrel with matches lying on it.

Reach the passage to the Chamber of Pillars

Your goal is to reach the scaffolding with a ladder shown in the picture. Use the ladder and, after reaching the scaffolding, open the chest with matches inside.

Go through the hole in the wall adjacent to the scaffolding. Use the small stairs and navigate the darkness to find a new chest, as shown in the picture above. First, you have to take heavy objects off the chest and then open it to pick up more matches.

Following this path will get you to the passage to the Chamber of Pillars shown in the picture. You have to go there (it's a separate location) to solve the puzzle related to the recently found portal.
