Amnesia: Rebirth is the third instalment of the FPP survival horror series launched in 2010. Unlike the previous part, the game was created by Frictional Games studio, the authors of Amnesia: The Dark Descent and Penumbra series.
Amnesia: Rebirth is set in the Algerian desert. However, this is not a feature continuation of Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, but a new game in the same universe. In the third installment of the series we play the role of Tasi Trianon, who remembers nothing of her past and sets off on a terrifying, dangerous adventure.
In order to look deep into her mind and answer the questions about who she is and how she found herself in the middle of the desert, the heroine overcomes numerous obstacles, confronts her fear, overcomes pain and runs away and hides from a mysterious beast. He struggles with internal weaknesses and tries to survive.
The gameplay does not differ significantly from the standards set by previous parts of the series. We are still dealing with a typical adventure game with logical elements and a dense, blood-chilling atmosphere. We travel through the Algerian desert, look into the dark locations, collect objects and notes that allow us to learn about the history of a given place, and solve puzzles that bring us closer to our goal. During the game, we also encounter monsters with which we cannot fight. To survive, Tasi must hide from them and run away.
Amnesia: Rebirth is based on the latest version of the HPL Engine. The graphics have been properly tweaked and it is impressive with the play of lights and shadows, which allowed to build a disturbing atmosphere. The atmospheric soundtrack also helps to build an aura of mystery and tension.
