Pilot Quirks is a mod for BattleTech, created by donZappo.

Description (in author’s own words):

Add variability to your pilots! Now each non-ancestral tag for the pilot is utilized to give them bonuses or penalties. Significantly increases your motivation to carry more pilots and to really think about who to add to any given drop. Now you'll actually want to have more than 8 pilots kicking around in your Argo!

This is intended an as optional mod to dZ Consolidated Company Commander, but is released here as a standalone Mod Pack. This Mod Pack adds quirks to all of the pilots in the game. The tags are now fully utilized to impact gameplay! Due to this, pilots now play a much more significant role in the day-to-day operations of the Argo and will show different strengths and weaknesses in combat. See the full list of Quirks here:

***MOD DEPENDENCIES***

Due to the wide nature of these Quirks it requires a number of mods for functionality. These are included with this Mod Pack. The following gameplay alterations are required:

MonthlyTechandMoraleAdjustments - This makes your monthly funding level choice have only a temporary effect during the month. It also temporarily changes your MechTechSkill and MedTechSkill based upon funding level.

Pilot_Fatigue - Your MechWarriors now are fatigued after every combat. They can still drop, but suffer reduced skills and suffer the chance of a "Light Injury."

RandomCampaignStart - Randomizes your starting Mech and MechWarrior choices.

BasicPanicSystem - During combat all pilots have a chance to eject and lose their nerve if things start to go poorly.

StabilePiloting - Your piloting skill gives a slight boost to mech stability.

***KNOWN ISSUES***

This Mod Pack was intended to use with dZ Consolidated Company Commander. That Mod Pack scales up all MechTechValues by 1,000. The Tech Quirk is intended to give +100 MechTech in this situation. Fractional MechTechSkill is not allowed in the base game. Therefore, this Tech Value has been set to +1. This is a VERY powerful boost.

INSTALLATION NOTES: ***VERY IMPORTANT TO READ THESE***

1) This is the Standalone version of Pilot Quirks. If you are using dZ Consolidated Company Commander use the Pilot Quirks add-on located there.

2) Copy over folders contained within the zip to your BATTLETECH\Mods directory. Overwrite the files as prompted.

3) If you want the Tags to be updated to show you what each quirk does, you have to copy over the included MetadataDatabase.dbb file. This file goes in the following directory (at least for Steam Installs): BATTLETECH\BattleTech_Data\StreamingAssets\MDD. Back up the MetadataDatabase.dbb file in there before copying over the one from the mod! The mod is still functional without this optional file, but you will be missing out on some UI descriptions.

4) If you choose to install the MetadataDatabase.dbb file you must delete the BATTLETECH\.Modtek\Database folder.

5) Some updates will not take place until you travel to other systems.

*****SAVE GAME COMPATIBILITY*****

If you are not starting a new campaign and want optimum save game compatibility you must follow these steps:

1) Open up the mod.json in BATTLETECH\Mods\Pilot_Quirks.

2) Change the IsSavedGame value from false to true.

3) Start up your campaign. Advance your game by ONE DAY.

4) Save your game.

5) Open up the mod.json in BATTLETECH\Mods\Pilot_Quirks.

6) Change the IsSavedGame value from true to false.

7) Your campaign has now been updated for Pilot Quirks.
