The Best Sims 4 DLCs - The Expansions Worth Your Money

The Sims have something for everyone. Recently, The Sims 4 was available for free, so the question many of you are probably asking right now is which DLC to get? This article should help you find the best DLC for you.

Table of Contents

StrangerVille

  1. Release date: 26 February 2006
  2. DLC type: add-on
  3. Key changes: a plot thread about a strange town out of a 1980s sci-fi movie.
  4. A new way to kill a sim: devoured by [CENSORED] during [CENSORED] in [CENSORED]
  5. Consider buying if you: want to learn mysterious stories and enjoy some silly humour

It's a treat for fans of freak towns and conspiracy theories. If you like to indulge in marathons of Stranger Things and The X-Files, StrangerVille is just the thing for you. The mainstay of the add-on is a storyline that gradually reveals the disturbing secrets of the town. The residents are acting up, strange vines grow out of the drain, and as we try to find clues as to the source of all this mystery, black ties from government agencies assure us that everything is fine and we should find something else to do.

StrangerVille's main thrust is the linear storyline. Solving the mystery will take about two hours, and there's really no point coming back after that time – unless you want to fulfill your life goals in the city, and become a real soldier.

WHO NEEDS SIMS WITH A STORY?

StrangerVille is the only narrative-driven addition in the series' history, but The Sims romanced with this approach in the past. The 2007-2008 spin-off series The Sims Stories, expansions to entry number two, was a series of stories that we could explore. One of them, Castaway Stories, even allowed to control a castaway on an deserted island, but unfortunately after completing the adventure, there wasn't much else to do.

Is StrangerVille worth it overall? The unique costumes, underground bunkers and the laptop (at last!) don't necessarily justify the purchase, but then, the expansions is definitely something new and fresh in this universe.
