CRONY U4 - companion location and recruitment
The CRONY U4 drone is a companion that is definitely the easiest to recruit from all the available companions. You have to reach the area shown in the picture - it is a clearing next to a small reservoir east of the Fort (the Berserkers' headquarters).
When you get there, you'll see a cutscene during which you'll find the drone known from the first Elex game.
During the conversation with the CRONY drone, you can ask about its current tasks, and immediately invite it to your team. There are no additional requirements here.
You'll also get the Best Buddy trophy for recruiting CRONY.
Exploit - CRONY as the second companion in Chapter 1 of the campaign
As you probably know, by default, Jax can have only one companion at a time, but you can have 2 companions in Chapter 1 - CRONY and any other. Here what is for you to do:
- Find the CRONY U4 drone - it will automatically join Jax.
- During the conversation with CRONY, don't ask whether the drone is ready to go (picture above). End the conversation right after you locate CRONY.
- The drone can follow Jax and participate in fights as a second companion. This means that one of the other companions may also be in the active party - you will have two allies with you.
Unfortunately, this method only works in the first chapter of the campaign. One of the requirements for advancing to chapter 2 is to make CRONY as one of your party members. From now on, selecting it as an active companion will prevent you from joining a second one.
Fighting alongside CRONY U4
CRONY fights only from a distance. The drone uses a laser gun to attack, but it can also distract enemies and make Jax's subsequent attacks easier.
Building a relationship with CRONY
CRONY is a unique companion, as your relationship with the drone won't be positive or negative. His approach to everything is neutral. Upon every decision you make when travelling with CRONY, you will be informed that the drone accepts your choice with no consequences. Choosing CRONY as an active companion can be good, if you want to make various decisions (good and bad, helping factions or bothering them) without worrying that these decisions will affect the relationship with your current companion.
