Expeditions MudRunner: Cars Expeditions MudRunner guide, tips

In Expeditions A MudRunner Game you will come to sit behind the wheel of a wide variety of off-road vehicles. On this page we will provide you with basic information about each type of vehicle, as well as car list.

Last update: 11 March 2024

There are 3 categories of vehicles in Expeditions A MudRunner Game. Each has its advantages and disadvantages, and the correct choice of a vehicle based on the situation will allow you to progress even when navigating the most hostile of terrains. On this page of our guide, you can find a brief introduction to each category of vehicles and give tips on when to use them.

Scouts

Light off-road vehicles - Expeditions MudRunner: Cars - Basics - Expeditions MudRunner Guide

Light off-road vehicles. Although they cannot match larger vehicles with their large cargo and towing capacities, this is made up for with maneuverability and excellent engine power-to-weight ratio. Perfect choice for exploration or reconnaissance missions. Additional advantage is low fuel consumption, which makes them able to cover more terrain on a single tank. Vehicles of this type are easy to get out of a tough spot even with the standard wInch without interventions from heavy trucks. Unfortunately, Scouts cannot take a lot of cargo, and many missions will require a vehicle that has a larger carrying capacity.

Off-Road

Larger trucks adapted for off-road driving - Expeditions MudRunner: Cars - Basics - Expeditions MudRunner Guide

Larger trucks adapted for off-road driving. Not as nimble as Scouts, but they make up for it with more powerful engines. They are also more durable and can carry much more cargo and specialized equipment (e.g. seismic sensors). These vehicles offer a good balance between horsepower, size, weight, and versatility.

Heavy

Heavy-duty machines adapted for off-road driving. Driving them will require some practice and careful planning of approach paths. As expected, heavy vehicles excel when it comes to carrying capacity, as they can take large amounts of materials, resources, and the largest research equipment with them. On the other hand, unimaginative and careless driving with such a behemoth can easily end up getting stuck in mud. Before setting out for a mission, it is worth equipping them with appropriate modifications that improve their handling in the given field, and we exhaust this topic on a dedicated page of our guide - Best Upgrades.

What vehicle to choose for a given mission?

Missions often have a specific type of vehicle in mind - Expeditions MudRunner: Cars - Basics - Expeditions MudRunner Guide

Missions often have a specific type of vehicle in mind. You will find information about it in the supplied briefing.

The game doesn't force vehicles, which means you are free to choose a vehicle that you see fit but some assumptions can be made from reading the information supplied - Expeditions MudRunner: Cars - Basics - Expeditions MudRunner Guide

The game doesn't force vehicles, which means you are free to choose a vehicle that you see fit but some assumptions can be made from reading the information supplied. For example, if a mission involves rescuing and towing an abandoned vehicle, you can expect that a truck or even a heavy-duty vehicle will be needed. On the other hand, if a mission mainly involves exploration and you don't have to transport large amounts of cargo or heavy machinery, a light and nimble car may be the right choice.

Don't forget that you can outfit and send more than one vehicle on a mission. If you're not sure what obstacles lie ahead and don't want to get a heavy vehicle into trouble, a quick recon with a Scout may be what you need. You can read more about switching vehicles on the How to switch trucks? page of our guide.

List of all trucks

There are 19 different vehicles in Expeditions A MudRunner Game. You'll obtain some of them at the very beginning of the game. Others you will have to unlock and buy in the store. The current list in the game is as follows:

Scouts:

  1. Don 71 - a light weight off-road vehicle with a very economical engine. Its low mass compensates for its small horsepower. It will be perfect for scout missions. Inspired by a real Lada Niva.
  2. Don 71 SE - a reinforced version of the small off-road vehicle. It offers a slightly larger fuel tank.
  3. Catco Canyon SR-i - a larger off-road vehicle that makes up for its higher fuel consumption with a significantly larger tank. Modeled on the existing Land Rover Defender and Iveco Masstrif.
  4. Loadstar 1700 - one of the larger vehicles in the category. A powerful engine in a relatively small "body" provides decent PWR ratio.
  5. Loadstar 1700 SE - an improved version of the previous truck. It is characterized by a larger tank and power.
  6. Collie 293M "Pug" - a scout with an unusual appearance resembling an armored vehicle. To unlock, it will be necessary to complete the mission "Unsuccessful Geoanalysis."
  7. Step 310E - the size of the vehicle allows for the installation of larger specialized modules such as a seismic vibrator.
  8. Step 310E SE - a reinforced version of the previous truck. It has a large tank (130 liters), which should be enough for a long journey. You can't install scientific equipment on this truck.
  9. KHAN 39 Marshall - one of the smaller vehicles from the scout category. It's characterized by excellent fuel economy. You will easily install a metal detector on its roof. It can be yours after completing the mission "Where Trucks Dare Not Thread."
  10. Khan Lo4F - an off-road truck inspired by a classic Soviet design. Unfortunately, the standard engine installed in this vehicle isn't very efficient. You can you buy it after completing the "Unfortunate Trip" mission.
  11. Tatra 805 - a light truck with the same name as its real Czech counterpart from the 50s. It will be unlocked in the store after completing the "Raining Cars" expedition.
  12. Yar 87 - the last car from the scout category. A three-axis construction and a large tank will help during long and demanding expeditions. Available after completing the mission "Lost in the Hills."

Off-Road:

  1. TUZ 16 Actaeon - a relatively compact truck from the medium weight category. The flat front and short wheelbase make it easier to maneuver in the field, while the cargo space allows for carrying a greater quantity of supplies compared to smaller trucks. Unfortunately, you won't be able to install any specialist equipment on the TUZ.
  2. TUZ 16 Actaeon SE - a reinforced version of a truck with a flat front.
  3. AFIM S1960 - an off-road truck with an unconventional wheel layout, featuring a double axle at the front of the vehicle. A set of 6 driven wheels may come in handy in difficult terrain. Unfortunately, just like with the TUZ, we can't install any specialized equipment on this vehicle. Available for purchase after completing the mission "Out of the Dirt."
  4. ANK MK38 Civilian - a large-sized off-road truck modeled on an American military vehicle. It will be unlocked in the store after completing the mission "Right Person for Right Job."
  5. KRS 58 Bandit - an eight-wheeled truck suitable for mounting a wide range of specialized scientific equipment. Available after completing the expedition "Quicksand."
  6. TUZ 108 Warthog - the last medium weight vehicle modeled on a Russian truck from the late 90s. You can't install any equipment on it. Available after completing the expedition "Logistics Issues."

Heavy:

  1. Tatra FORCE T815-7 - an eight-wheeled colossus. Piloting it on the route will require some practice and the right approach. You can install any kind of scientific equipment on the Czech vehicle. Available after completing the mission "Attempt to Ford the River." At the moment, this is the only vehicle in the game within the highest weight class.
