Frostpunk: What is the best way of placing buildings?
Your city has a limited space. Because of that you should use it wisely. Each building needs a certain space. Their width is the most important. The game has buildings with three different types of width. Houses, medical facilities, warehouses and certain public buildings are 2 fields wide. Buildings were food is being produced and converted into an edible form, Workshop and Public House are 3 fields wide. The biggest buildings, that need 4 fields, are e.g. The Temple or House of Healing.
Placing two buildings with different width next to each other creates an empty space between them. This means that you lose a part of terrain that could be put to a better use. This is unacceptable in a such limited area.

The best solution is to place buildings with the same width next to each other. Thanks to that you can create a circle without any empty spaces (check the picture above). This allows you to use available space to maximum.
