1000xResist

1000xResist is a production combining elements of adventure games and visual novels. The game was developed by the independent studio Sunset Visitor from Vancouver, which is a group of creators from the Asian-Canadian diaspora. The authors drew inspiration from many sources, such as Yoko Taro's games (led by NieR: Automata), anime (Evangelion, Paprika), as well as Robert Wilson's theater performances.

Plot

1000xResist takes us a thousand years into the future. After the Earth was taken over by a race of gigantic Aliens called Occupants, humanity almost completely died out, decimated by the disease brought by the new hosts of the planet.

However, a teenager named Iris managed to not only survive, but also gain immortality and create a new society consisting of her clones (which, unlike her, are not immune to the mysterious plague). Iris took the lead of this unusual group, earning the title of Allmother, while the Orchard became the home for her and her Sisters - an underground bunker providing them with relative safety.

During the game we play as the Watcher. Through a process called Communion we can experience Iris's memories. When her sister - Fixer - convinces that Iris is not who she claims to be, she is accused of treason and executed. At this moment, we step into action to get to know the whole truth about Iris.

Mechanics

1000xResist combines elements of various genres, which directly translates into the gameplay. In the adventure segments, we watch the action from a third-person perspective (TPP), while in the exploration-based sections, events are presented from the heroine's point of view (FPP).

The adventure leads us through various locations - from places where Iris's memories are set, to the futuristic Orchard, where we end up between visits to the past. While traversing them, we talk to characters and solve puzzles that give us access to closed areas and various secrets.

Technical aspects

The graphic design of 1000xResist is maintained in manga style. Asian-Canadian voice actors appeared in the game, and its script contains 15 thousand lines of dialogue.
