Action games. Wide category of games that require reflex, accuracy and agility. It includes, among other things, shooters (e.g. Call of Duty and Battlefield series) and action-adventure games (Tomb Raider). First and third person perspective (FPP/TPP) is used. In most cases we are playing as a character who has to defeat some enemies and reach a specific point. We can use a wide range of weapons, including pistols, rocket launchers, swords, knives and like. Action-adventure is a particular category within action games genre. Such titles put less emphasis on action and combat, focusing more on story, exploration and puzzles.

The story follows the plot of Batman: Arkham Origins, giving us the opportunity to experience more of Batman’s adventures from before when he became the Dark Knight. The action is set in the eponymous Blackgate prison, where Batman has to quell an inmate riot. Arkham Origins Blackgate is a classical beat ‘em up fighting game.

The plot of the game refers to the Japanese mythology and focuses on the war waged with demons called Oni, which crawled out from under the ground and took over most of human settlements. Players take on the role of elite warriors, called to fight against the spreading evil. Gameplay boils down to exploration and conversations with NPCs who give us further tasks.

The game is distributed for free and was created by a sixteen year old teenager – Nelson Sexton. The game takes place in an open world overrun by a zombie epidemic and forces the player into a fight for survival in this dangerous environment. Just like other, similar games, the main part of the gameplay is resource-gathering-oriented exploration.
