In 2013, the development studio Gaijin Entertainment (which was founded in Russia, but over time moved to Germany, and then to Budapest) released a multiplayer aerial shooter titled War Thunder. Years later, another game of this type followed in its footsteps, namely the Aces of Thunder described here. Although this new game was prepared with virtual reality sets in mind, it is also playable without them (thanks to a patch released after the premiere).

Gameplay

In Aces of Thunder we watch the action from a first-person perspective (FPP).

Aerial battles from the times of World War I and II

During the game, we can take control of one of the World War II aircrafts and participate in aerial battles on the Western, Eastern, and Pacific fronts. The game also provides us with machines from World War I and allows us to fight battles in the skies over the most characteristic battlefields of that period.

Airplanes

In Aces of Thunder we will find a wide range of airplanes. Machines from World War II include the American P-51 Mustang and P-63 Kingcobra, the German Bf 109 and Fw 190, the Soviet Il2 and Jak-9T, as well as the British Spitfire and the Japanese A6M3 Zero. There are also machines from World War I, such as the Fokker DR.I fighters or the SPAD S.XIII.

Controls

The game borrows the flight model and damage system from War Thunder. It supports HOTAS controllers, and also allows for handling interactive airplane cockpits using motion controllers (which can be used by owners of VR sets).
