Mechanics

Aeterna Lucis is a side-scroller. The game tasks us with completing main quests and side missions. To experience the story, we must pay attention not only to dialogue but also item descriptions. There's lots of environmental narration as well.

The adventure leads us through diverse, interconnected locations, forming a vast, maze-like world. As we traverse it, we must avoid traps and obstacles, jump on platforms and face enemies. Combat is fast-paced, requiring constant movement, avoiding enemy attacks and counter-attacking. Apart from regular enemies, we'll also face numerous powerful bosses.

As we progress further, we develop the protagonist and face greater challenges. We'll also unlock new abilities used to reach previously inaccessible areas.

Technical aspects

Aeterna Lucis retains the first game's colorful, cartoonish artstyle. The soundtrack is atmospheric and fits the tone well.
