In 2023, independent developer Zine Falouti released a jRPG game he had developed called Alder Forge. The production passed without much e?ect, but players who had the opportunity to get acquainted with it evaluated it positively. So the creator decided to prepare its continuation in the form of Alder Forge 2, described here.
In Alder Forge 2 we watch the action from a third-person perspective (TPP). During the gameplay we take control of a team of characters consisting of two squads. Four of our subordinates form an attacking team, and the other four form a reserve team, which enters the action when the first one fails.
The game world is divided into four lands, led by the kingdoms of Meredith, Elysia and Orvys, and as you move through them, you get to know their inhabitants and perform tasks for them, recruit team members (half of your allies join you as you progress), as well as fight enemies.
Adversaries, who are divided into standard and adaptive, stand in our way. In addition to serial enemies, we face bosses representing four categories (classic, as well as third, second and first level). Skirmishes take place in turn-based mode, and success is ensured mainly by skillful use of weapons and abilities of individual characters. We can increase the speed of the clashes, speeding them up two and three times.
As we progress, we gain experience points and develop characters. By fighting battles in series, we activate the Battle Fever system, which provides us with a multiplier to PD. In addition, our activities outside of battle provide us with bonuses on the battlefield, as well as unlocking discounts at merchants through the Gaia's Blessings system.
We upgrade heroes and heroines by supplying them with increasingly powerful equipment or by developing the equipment they already have. In addition to improving weapons, the local crafting system allows alchemy and the fusion of Anima stones, giving us additional bonuses.
The action of Alder Forge 2 takes place two years after the events presented in the first part of the series. The Orvys invasion of Royne resulted in the emergence of Magna Lumen from the shadows and the entanglement of all factions of the High Council in the global Conflict. In addition, a clash between the nine surviving Knights of Alder Forge and their guardians looms on the horizon. Topping it all off is growing civil unrest.
We, of course, find ourselves in the middle of this melting pot, and our task is to secure the future of a world where the old clashes with the new.
The graphic design of the Alder Forge 2 game is kept in a manga style.
