Nova-box is an independent French development studio founded in 2007. Over the years, the Bordeaux-based team has specialized in creating visual novel type productions. Along the Edge is one of them.

Gameplay

The gameplay in Along the Edge does not differ from what we are accustomed to by the vast majority of other productions of this type. In the course of it , we watch almost entirely static boards presenting the main character and other characters, as well as the places and situations in which we find ourselves. The plot is conveyed mainly through dialogues, while its course is determined by the choices we make.

Storyline

The main protagonist of Along the Edge is Daphne, who, after losing a child, returns to her inherited estate in the French countryside. Along with it, the protagonist also inherits her family's conflict - the Delatour?s - with the Malterres family, which she must take care of. As if that were not enough, the woman learns that she is the last descendant of a line of witches. On top of this, the father of her lost child, Frank, appears on the scene, who is not her only admirer, as she is also interested in the newly met Stanislas.

How the further fate of Daphne unfolds is largely up to us. The protagonist can par?cipate in witchcraft or break with the family tradition and become a math teacher or school headmistress. The protagonist can also avenge her family or put an end to the war with the Malterres family. Finally, our protagonist can accept the advances of Stanislas, reconcile with Frank or remain single.

Graphics, game volume

The graphic design of Along the Edge was kept in a style that makes it resemble a painting painted in watercolors. The game includes more than 450 illustrations, while the story it tells has almost 80,000 words.
