A mobile installment of the popular Worms series – strategic turn-based games in which heavily armed worms fight against each other. As usually, the title is developed by Team 17. Worms make use of a wide arsenal of crazy weapons and gadgets, but while using them, you need to remember about the influence of gravity and wind. Moreover, almost every environment element is destructible. In comparison to previous installments, Worms 4 introduces a few changes. As it is a mobile production, the scale of battles is reduced, the teams are smaller, and the time limit reduced. The title features new kinds of weapons and some diverse game modes, including an extensive single player campaign. Naturally, multiplayer is the backbone of the game.

Arcade 28 March 2018
A simplistic arcade game requiring the player to throw spears at incoming enemies. This is the debut of Lichthund - an independent Polish developer. The game is set in the far future and the world itself was inspired by Germanic mythology, which is combined here with elements of science fiction and abstract humor. The player assumes the role of a bright-haired warrior who traverses this fantasy world and fights mythological creatures. Throwing bright spears at enemies approaching from the right side of the screen is the core element of the game. The player's objective here is to hit the target before it manages to reach the protagonist. The gameplay is diversified with special powers, such as the rainfall of luminous spears that encompasses the entire map. Powers such as this one can be upgraded alongside progression. Subsequent locations are highly diverse, as is the bestiary here. From time to time, the player encounters powerful bosses - defeating them requires application of adequate tactics. Lichtspeer stands out with its interesting graphic style, which is made of two-dimensional objects and bright colors.

Aside from the basic options, allowing the player to engage in single- or multiplayer matches, the creators also included modes such as MyGM and MyLeague. These modes allow the player to take the reins of managing the team, deciding on the color of the outfits, or the logo visible on players’ shirts. The visuals are once again top notch, with an interesting feature in the form of a face recognition system, which allows the players to transfer their likeness to the virtual basketball court.
Kingdom: Two Crowns (AND)
Strategy November 2018
Another incarnation of a minimalistic real-time strategy with RPG elements, developed by an independent studio called noio. Unlike the original release, in Kingdom: Two Crowns the player can enjoy both single player and cooperative game modes. During the game, one observes the action from the side perspective. Gameplay revolves around two main aspects – the first one being exploration (during which one can acquire gold they can give to the encountered settlers), while the second one focuses on expanding the settlement by erecting production buildings, creating tools for the settlers, and building diverse fortifications, which prove useful after dusk. During the night, one’s domain is attacked by vicious trolls and the player has to pay careful attention to their crown, because when it falls into enemy hands, the game is over. Luckily, the player can unlock numerous perks on their adventures to stand a better chance against the increasingly powerful foes. The game features simple, yet pleasing pixel-art visuals.

There are four different races to choose from, all supported by heroes with unique special abilities. As befits a real-time strategy game, we have to build a village, recruit an army, enhance our weapons, and take over enemy buildings. Battles are very fast-paced and usually last no longer than 5-10 minutes. The title offers four single player campaigns, a skirmish mode, and a multiplayer mode that supports e-sport features.
