XboxEra: 5 / 10 by Jesse Norris

Atomic Heart is a good game, but this DLC is an unsatisfying follow-up to that story.  It removes the surprising depth of both the characters and gameplay and replaces it with a linear mess that rarely resembles the far superior original title.

Atomic Heart: Annihilation Instinct still looks the goods, but its linear approach and weirdly limited arsenal is a step down from where we left off.

The main cons of the game

  • Expanded Story Elements: Several reviews mentioned that the story felt disconnected, particularly for players who did not choose the ending the DLC is based on, leading to confusion about narrative continuity.

Summary

  • Overall, while "Annihilation Instinct" offers a solid expansion with notable improvements in some areas, it also suffers from significant challenges that have left some players feeling mixed about the experience.
