Atomic Heart is a first-person perspective shooter developed by an independent Russian studio Mundfish. The title was released on platforms like PC, PS4, and XONE.
Atomic Heart takes place in an alternative, retro-futuristic version of Soviet Union. The main protagonist of the game is P-3, a secret agent sent to a secret base number 3826, where he must discover why the contact with the personnel was lost. Once the protagonist reaches the destination, he discovers that the machines that are present there incited against humanity. What makes things even worse is the fact that hordes of zombies are walking through the complex. They are the victims of Doctor Stockhausen’s experiments. The protagonist discovers what exactly happened by plundering the areas of the facility.
The action in Atomic Heart is presented from a first-person perspective. During the game, the players are traveling through the facility and areas surrounding it. Combat with adversaries (or sneaking past them undetected) is an important aspect of the game. The players can choose from a variety of melee weapons and guns. The weapons can be also modified. In addition to regular enemies, the players must also face powerful bosses.
Atomic Heart is powered by Unreal Engine 4. The developers took advantage of this graphics engine and created high-quality graphics. Detailed locations, unusual opponent’s designs, and impressive finishing animations are especially worth mentioning. The title features a unique soundtrack inspired by Russian folk music.
