A combination of a card game and an RPG, with many inspirations taken from the science fiction anime series. Battle Suit Aces allows us to participate in turn-based battles, playing cards related to certain characters and their skills. We expand our crew and develop its members as we progress in the game.
Trinket Studios is an independent American development team with the game Battle Chef Brigade in their portfolio. Their next venture is Battle Suit Aces described here - it is a production on the border between card games and RPGs, inspired by anime series about mechs.
The pillar of Battle Suit Aces are card battles played in turn-based mode. The cards we use are linked to specific characters and their individual abilities. This means that the key to success is assembling a team and composing a deck whose individual components complement each other.
We expand the range of cards by developing our characters and recruiting new crew members. We acquire the latter by building relationships with representatives of various factions that govern this part of the Universe. Among them, we find space pirates, paranormal detectives, and starball celebrities. A character's affiliation with a specific faction determines their fighting style and personality.
We spend time between missions on board the spaceship USS Zephyr. Here, we can get to know our comrades better, test card synergies in a special simulation chamber, upgrade our deck, create special drones, and modify the Zephyr to support the crew on the battlefield.
In Battle Suit Aces we follow the adventures of Captain Heathcliff and other members of the USS Zephyr crew. They travel through space in search of an ancient superweapon - Relic Suits mechs. They are planning to save the galaxy with their help.
Throughout various missions, we get to infiltrate corrupt corporations, attend a ball, or play a game of starball. How our adventure unfolds, as well as the composition of the Zephyr crew and our relationships with its members, largely depends on our actions and the choices we make.
The graphics of Battle Suit Aces are inspired by anime series from the 1990s.
