Burstfire is an FPS team shooter designed for online gameplay, combining action intensity with tactical depth and the need to plan actions within the team. Free Reign Entertainment studio, made up of former members of Adhesive Games team, known for Hawken's multi-player shooting.

The game does not offer an extensive storyline layer, concentrating entirely on the multiplayer mode, in which two teams of five compete against each other. The rules of the game are very simple: one of the teams has to protect the goal, and the role of the opposing team is to capture it. The whole thing is different from most of the popular chain shooters like Counter-Strike, where the action usually takes place at a very fast pace, because the creators of Burstfire put a special emphasis on realism and tactics of each subsequent skirmish.

Since there is only one life in the game (no possibility of respawn), every action taken requires careful consideration and can have far-reaching consequences. Thanks to this, the whole gameplay takes on a tactical character and requires close cooperation and communication within the team. In addition to the obvious arsenal of weapons, both teams have a wide range of tactical possibilities at their disposal. For example, the defending team can build a number of different fortifications or set traps on the battlefield, making it difficult for enemies to get near their targets. Attackers can use remote-controlled vehicles or drones for reconnaissance, as well as paving their way through seemingly inaccessible areas of the map by destroying the environment.

One of the key elements of Burstfire is the resignation from division into classes, which is typical for net shooters and which is indirectly connected with the allocation of particular tasks during the fight. The creators allowed players the freedom to create the appearance and equipment of the characters they controlled. Each soldier can specialize in any type of tasks and be equipped with an individual set of equipment and armament, which can be additionally modified in the course of the game, changing its appearance, optics, parameters, etc. The soldiers can also specialize in any type of tasks and be equipped with an individual set of equipment and armament, which in the course of the game can be additionally modified, changing its appearance, optics, parameters, etc. Thanks to this solution, the roles of individual players on the battlefield are not assigned from above and may vary depending on the arrangements made in the team.
